2023 Binaural Beats Hz Guide
What are binaural beats, and what benefits do they have to offer? Do binaural beats actually work? One may ask.
Binaural tones are the resulting tone or frequency difference that your mind perceives. For instance, lets listening to a frequency at 373 Hertz (Hz) in your right ear. In your left ear, a frequency of 369 Hz. Consequently, your brain registers and aligns to the difference, which is 4 Hz. ( 373Hz – 369Hz = 4Hz).
Binaural Beats Explained
Notably, the difference of the two range of frequencies that your brain synchronizes and registers is the binaural beat frequency. According to this opinion, the two frequencies or tones should have a difference of less than 1000 HZ.
Binaural tones frequencies changes the brain’s waves activities. The matching of the varying frequencies is referred to as brain entrainment. This is according to a study published in the Frontiers in Psychiatry.
Before we delve into the specific health benefits of the different types of binaural beats frequencies, shall we look at some of the general positive effects of the #Binaurabeats or the otherwise called solfeggio frequencies? Good!

Theta Binaural Beats Frequency (3.6 – 7.9 Hz)
Using Theta binaural tones in meditation or just its occasional but consistent use have been found to improve a person’s overall well-being and health.
According to the authors of this peer reviewed article, the theta frequency is majorly used in meditation, and enhances mindfulness. This is partly because the natural theta brain state – just before sleep and during the waking state after sleep – is already active, and needs little stimulation or triggering. The authors further note that this frequency then easily activates whole brain functioning.
Conclusively, with Theta Binaural Tones , one can get the following benefits;
- Deep relaxation
- An increased sense of inner peace and emotional stability
- Improved memory
- Helps induce a meditative state
- Heightened intuition and inspiration
- Increased psychic ability
- Enhances the feeling of spiritual connection
- Stress and anxiety reduction
- Improved sleep
Delta Binaural Beats Frequency (0.1 – 3.5 Hz)
Delta frequencies are used and generated in the brain in deep sleep states.
Agreeably, they are mostly associated with sleep. According to a study, delta waves are considered to be the gateway to the subconscious mind, and thus is vital in regulating involuntary body functions such as heartbeat and digestion.
Similarly, delta binaural beats frequency are useful in enhancing the innate personal such as empathy, activities that are improved in the sleeping state, and the natural immune system.
Notably, delta binaural beats are important in;
- Helps in anti-aging hormone activation
- Deep relaxation
- Enhance life quality
- Inner peace and balance
- Revitalize the mental, physical and spiritual Aura
- Bone, body and muscle replenishing
- Sharpening intuition
- Rejuvenate the body of its fatigue
- Decreases cortisol – stress hormone
Alpha Binaural Beats Frequency (8 – 14 Hz)
As the name suggests, binaural beats frequencies in the alpha range helps put your mind in a focused and productive state.
According to this study, the brain waves resultant from this frequency helps in maintaining activities that demand attention.
Consequently, alpha beats also helps in memory retention.
Concisely, the 8-10 Hz alpha binaural beats frequency helps in;
- Improve learning ability
- Productivity increase
- Stress reduction
- Enhance reaction time threshold
- Helps in inducing positivity
Beta Binaural Beats Frequency (15 – 29 Hz)
One is often lost deep in an activity that is mentally engaging. It is then, that you are in the beta brain wave state. The beta state involves wide awake times, and can thus be considered a vital state. It follows that we should guard and seek to enhance this state, as it may determine our daily activities outcomes.
The brain’s left hemisphere is said to be the host of the beta state, according to this peer reviewed study. Beta binaural beats helps in maintaining activity balance in the brain hemispheres. When beta wave activity becomes very Mind intense, our brain hemispheres becomes less synchronized, resulting to stress and anxiety. This is unproductive, thus the need for beta binaural beats frequency exposure.
In essence, the beta binaural beats for meditation is useful in:
- Improved attention
- Improved logic, reasoning and critical thinking
- Helps deal with insomnia
- Increased concentration
- How long should one listen to Binaural Beats?
15 minutes to hours, depending on your level of binaural beats mastery. Starters should aim for shorter listening periods, and continue increasing the time of exposure to this brain entrainment music.
- Do you need Headphones/earphones to listen to binaural beats?
Yes, one needs to use headphones for binaural beats to work correctly.
This is because binaural beats are the tone difference that the brain perceives from two different tone frequencies. Kindly refer to the post above for that information. However, if you have a great sound system that has excellent surround sound, then you can use it to listen to binaural beats music. Set the system to low but audible volume.
As we have seen, binaural beat frequencies can significantly enhance your overall life experience. The good thing about them is that you do not have to set aside some time for them. You can listen to them as you go about your daily activities, sleeping, exercising, etc. This is because, most work on the subconscious mind programming, and frequent exposure can have you acquire life-long changes. I say most because, for instance, the beta beats work in real-time. There are tons of binaural beats apps for mobile devices available, so kindly take time to review them and use them, as well as the YouTube channels.
Quality headsets are recommended for best results. We recommend wireless ones, such as the Pixel Buds Pro, or the Pixel 6a. These gadgets have active noise cancellation and have a “Transparency mode,” which we reckon they will give you the best binaural beats tones experience. Remember, binaural beats are a difference of two tones playing in distinct ears.
DISCLAIMER: It is not advisable to use binaural tones when driving, or when engaged in an activity whose environment requires coordination, independent brain use, or other brain intensive activities. This is because they significantly alter state of mind, and can induce drowsiness or even sleep.
Do not use binaural beats as a substitute for work, medical attention, or physical exercise. In addition, epileptic people or those who experience brain seizures are advised not to use binaural tones.

I was puzzled in this article when it said “Notably, the difference of the two range of frequencies that your brain synchronizes and registers is the binaural beat frequency. According to Healthline, the two frequencies or tones should have a difference of less than 1000 HZ.”
I think the 1000 Hz threshold was referring to each carrier frequency, not to the difference in frequencies. The difference in frequencies should be much lower than 1000 Hz.
I checked the healthline reference and they say: “As mentioned earlier, for a binaural beat to work, the two tones have to have frequencies of less than 1000 Hz and the difference between the two tones can’t be more than 30 Hz.”
The Frontiers in Psychiatry article states. “Oster reported that the binaural beats were detected only when the carrier frequency was below 1000 Hz, a finding that confirmed an earlier study by Licklider and colleagues (8). This indicates that beat carrier frequencies have to be sufficiently low enough to be temporally encoded by the cortex (9).”
Your article is helpful, and like others I’m just trying to get a better understanding of this amazing phenomenon. Setting the carrier frequencies at or below 1000Hz may be necessary for the binaural beats to manifest. Thanks, Billy Clifton
